Manufacturing Processes for Aluminium Casting
(1)Original model
Original models are made with FRP Resin as opposed to plaster due to the delicate nature of the strings used in construction.

(2)Samples

During sample creation, the appropriate hot water circulation, texture and colorings are ensured.

(3)Model
A runner channel and pouring gate are created on each model.

(4) Framing (Gas model)
Models are framed in wood and sand mixed with liquid glass as inverter is put into the frame. The frames are taken off at the end and the space same as the original model is made in the soil. This space is hardened with carbon dioxide. Frame modeling is similar to a burned modeling, a traditional technology.

(5)Pouring hot water
Molten aluminium at around 700 degrees is poured into the mould.

(6)De-framing the sand model

Once set, the aluminium casting is removed from the mould.

(7)Removal of Pouring Gate and Finishing Touches
The pouring gate and other aids to the creation process are removed with a grinder.

(8) Logo (machine carving)
Logos cannot be carved into models due to the pouring gate on the underside of each piece. Logos must be carved by hand separately on to each piece.

The underside of this work has three pouring gates and therefore logos cannot be carved during the modeling process.
Logos are carved mid way through the finishing process after which the works are mirror finished.

(9)Buff Finish (Mirror Finish)

The mirror finish is treated with several kinds of buff. Careful craftsmanship is necessary for narrow or concave parts to be mirror finished. To mirror finish the narrow or concave areas requires the careful attention of an experienced craftsman.
